Suspected COVID-19 case management plan according the guidelines and Health and Safety Protocols of the National Public Health Organization (NPHO) https://eody.gov.gr/en/  for Camping Elena’s Beach

If a guest exhibits symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection (sudden onset symptoms of the disease, with at least one of the following symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath), the following applies:

1. The doctor with whom the campsite cooperates is called in to assess the incident.

2. If the patient is in urgent need of hospitalization, exhibits a severe clinical picture, he is transferred to the nearest health unit, as a suspected case of COVID-19. If it is not possible to manage a COVID-19 case from the health unit of the area, there must be a provision for transporting the patient (National Center for Immediate Social Assistance, floating ambulance, air transport) to the nearest health unit where it can manage the case.

3. If the patient has a mild clinical picture, a sample for laboratory confirmation of COVID-19 is obtained from the physician.

4. If the incident is assessed as possible COVID-19 case by the examining physician, the person in charge of the implementation of the suspected case management plan of the campsite communicates IMMEDIATELY with NPHO at +30 210 5212054 or at the special four-digit number 1135 (24 hours a day) to declare the suspected case and for further guidelines for dealing with it.

5. The patient with a mild clinical picture remains in his camper/motorhome or caravan until the results of the laboratory test are announced. In case he camps with a tent, he is transferred to a special room for temporary isolation in the campsite.

6. During the above waiting, the entry of staff into the patient's camp is avoided if there is no significant reason. If necessary, a staff member of the camping is advised to deal exclusively with the possible case.

7. Mandatory use of a surgical mask, protective glasses, plastic shoe covers, waterproof apron with long sleeves and disposable gloves,  by anyone entering the temporary isolation area should be used (used protective equipment should be discarded in a bag and never used again protective equipment hands should be washed thoroughly with soap and water).

8. Ventilation of the temporary isolation area, cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and objects after removal of the patient with 0.1% chlorine solution (4 teaspoons of chlorine content 5% per 1 liter of water) or 70% ethyl alcohol with 10 minutes of contact time or other disinfectant with proven iodine action (cleaning materials must either be discarded or washed at 90 ° C before reuse, preferably disposable materials)

9. Report to the competent health authority of all patient contacts starting two days before the onset of symptoms

10. The contact details of The National Center for Immediate Social Assistance , the contact details of the health structure that the suspected incident should be transferred to and the contact details of the health service to which the camping belongs are:

  • Emergency Medicine Department of General Hospital of Filiates or University Hospital of Ioannina
  • Department of Environmental Hygiene & Health Control, Prefecture of Thesprotia

11. If it is confirmed as a case of COVID-19, it is transferred to the special quarantine hotel and later to a health facility that will accommodate patients with COVID-19 if they need treatment. If not confirmed as a case of COVID-19, it is treated at the campsite with the instructions of the treating physician.

12. The patient is transported with personal protection equipment (simple surgical mask) and private means of transport.

13. If there is an attendant of the patient who wishes to stay close to him to take care of him (eg a spouse), he/she  should be given a simple surgical mask and advised to wash his/her  hands every time he/she  comes in contact with secretions of the patient (eg saliva) and definitely before the attendant touches his face or eats or drinks.

14. The patient's relative contact details should always be recorded if consent is required for interventions where the patient cannot communicate.

15. Used protective equipment (simple disposable surgical mask, gloves) should be discarded in a bin and never used again

16. After disposing of protective equipment, hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and water. It is emphasized that the use of gloves does not replace hand washing, which is a very important means of
